About Mia
Most people enjoy music, however for Mia the harmony of music seems to resonate a deep passion from within. She began playing the piano at the early age of four and was always active in classes that cultivated her adoration for music. From an early point in her life she was able to see how music could bring people enjoyment. Yet, it wasn't until Mia was in her early twenties that she realized how to utilize her talent for more then just entertainment. During her employment with an eating disorder clinic, as well as a treatment center for recovering drug addicts, Mia was able to see how music could help facilitate positive change in others lives. Mia specifically began writing music for recovery when she worked at the Utah County Jail in the O.U.T. (On Unit Treatment Program). She found that many of her songs easy coincided with the lessons she taught the inmates. To this end, Mia has found a deep reverence creating music that can touch the heart and move the soul to change.
Quote from Mia:
"Part of overcoming challenges is remembering where you have been and where you want to go."
About Mendy
Mendy has had a strong connection to music her entire life. Growing up, she loved to play the piano, dance, sing, and perform. When Mendy was 16 years old, she discovered an old classical guitar her parents had kept. As she pretended to play this guitar (while standing on her bed, rocking out) to "What's Up" by the Four Non Blondes, she knew she had to learn to play. Mendy wrote a song with the first three chords that she learned and has been writing songs ever since.
Mendy loves all types of music and has been influenced by everything from jazz to pop to folk to funk to alternative, etc. She considers her biggest iinfluences to be Sarah McLachlan, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Sundays, and Mazzy Star. Her music exemplifies moving and tender lyrics, clear vocals, and heart felt melodies.
Quote from Mendy:
"I don't expect to change the world with my music, but I know that there are people that need to hear my songs."
ABOUT MICHAEL
It was choir in the eighth grade which helped Michael discover his voice and love for music. Upon uncovering this talent Michael signed up for summer voice lesson but continued on to take lessons indefinitely. He has been blessed to be nurtured under many great teachers and currently is studying with the well-known Dean Kaelin. Throughout his intermediate and secondary schooling Michael was able to channel his passion for music through plays--his particular favorite roles were being Benjamin in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Gideon in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Due to Michael's unique gift he has also been given many opportunities to perform in such prominent productions as Rob Gardner's Joseph Smith in Abravanel Hall and the Joseph Smith Commemoration at the Brigham Young University Marriot Center.
Currently, Michael and his two sisters, Mia and Mendy, regularly utilize their voices to uplift those that need it most at various treatment centers. Michael has been a part of various performance groups and has participated in different plays.
Quote from Michael: "One candle can light a beacon. I hope to be a candle with my voice and that others will join me, however they can, in lighting this beacon. It is my hope that as people in need pass by this beacon, they will have a spark of hope ignited within them, leading them back to a better path."
