Album Notes

Michael Brett was born on the Upper East Side of NYC and raised in the artist-influenced community of Roosevelt, NJ. It was in Roosevelt that he first fell in love with music. Living around him were many talented artists, musicians, & poets. Noted jazz teacher, musician & composer Laurie Altman was an early influence.

In his formative years, he regularly performed as a solo musician in various talent shows. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications, he was a student intern at various local radio stations. It is here where he realized that he preferred to hear his music, not his
commercial copy, on the radio.

His first recording, the six-song EP done., was released in 1998. Combining rock/pop, folk, alternative with smidgens of jazz and disco, he drew musical ideas from such diverse acts as the Beatles, David Bowie, Brian Wilson, the Bee Gees, and even Parliament Funkadelic.
