With inspirations such as Pink Floyd and Jimi Henderix.. Michael Gabriel brings back styles from the past in a one of a kind method that can be only explained as perfection when put into Visions. This is an artist that we will see more and more of as his original sound reaches more and more ears.

Not just a blues/rock album...

I think Michael Gabriel's album Visions is a unique piece of art on it's style. What makes the Visions unique ? The point of view of the artist, quality of the sound, and something more deeper. In Visions you will find your own path that lead you to your visionary place. You can start your voyage with the opening song "Cosmos" and after a high speed trip you can find your self watching a sunset with two suns on an unstable planet landscape and asking "Why ?". At least this album creating that imaginary on my mind. You can close your eyes and dream about your own visionary place...

I had heard some of Michaels songs "Outlaw WAS my favorite" before I purchaseds this Cd...but after I listened to the whole thing all the way through I was amazed...this is really great work...wow...I don't think I can pick a favorite song now although I really like "Heartstrings"...they are all great pices of music and I thought they would all sound the same...I thought how you could you make a song with No lyrics sound different...but Michael Gabriel figured it out...very nice work and I wish you the best with everything you decide to do...

Many times I will look at an all instrumental cd and think "great here comes 60

I had no Idea what really to expect, but being a former musician myself, I knew at the very least I would appreciate the effort and the musicianship put into creating the disk, But I was unsure If I would Like it or not. Usually the first thing I do when I get a cd I am unsure of, I will scan through the Jacket and see If I can find Band names or Musician names contained within to get a Musical Idea of what the cd will be like.
I saw influences of Jimmi & SRV and Knew right away (or I thought) of what to expect. There are many ways to gage a guitar player, Some are very Technical and precise, some are very passionate, and some mimic their Influences, but have little style of their own.
There are also a few guys out there who may not be the "Best" but the "Best" can play note for note with them And never quite get the same sound and feel of the original, Yet some that can make it better.
Many times I will look at an all instrumental cd and think "great here comes 60 minutes of look what I can do". This cd is NOT one of those.
The songs are very well composed, written, arranged and performed. There is a very wide musical spectrum thought the entire disk and each song has it's own personality and feel. These songs actually take you on a musical journey. Every Musician wears his heart on his sleeve & is sometimes their own worst critic and very protective of their baby.
But I can say with all honesty. Michael Gabriel plays with a style all his own, that does draw off of his influences which you can hear, But plays with an emotion and feel Not very many players can match. This musician not only wears his heart on his sleeve, but Plays with his Soul as well.
I think any musician on this board would appreciate the work gone into this disc, but Music fans as well Will enjoy the sonic pleasure of Visions. I know next time I have a chance to sit back relax & spark one up, This cd is going to be the sound track.
I hope my review does this Disc Justice, however I know it truly doesn't.
