Album Notes

“Holmes and company sparkle on the classics!”
John Sinkevics, Grand Rapids Press Music Critic

Michael Holmes is a regular entertainer in the Midwest best known for THE JUDY SHOW in which he impersonates the likes of Judy Garland, Carol Channing and Bette Davis. He has been entertaining audiences from Maui to Manhattan for several years.“The jazz standards from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s have become the basis for my shows, and, consequently, my favorite genre of music,” says Holmes . “They are classics that never grow old and still touch many of the listeners in wonderful and joyful way.”

The Trio includes Michael Holmes on vocals, Mark Kahny on keyboards and synth bass and Bob Thompson on drums. Mark Kahny has extensively toured the US with many groups and has performed with Bobby Vinton, Red Buttons and Ray Charles and is regarded as one of Michigan’s best and most in-demand keyboardists. Check out Mark's solo CD "Universe of Two", also here on CDBaby.com. Bob Thompson, a career percussionist with forty years in the business, has had the pleasure of performing with Stevie Wonder, Lou Rawls, Edwin Star and many others.

They first started performing together in 2005 and their popularity was immediate and has steadily increased. By popular request the trio put together this CD of twelve classic standards including Route 66, I Wish You Love, But Not For Me and the title song from the CD, Peter Allen’s If You Were Wondering, which has become Holmes’ signature song closing THE JUDY SHOW.

Also appearing on the CD are Eddy Curtis on trumpet and flugelhorn and Tom Hagen on clarinet and guitar.

I have one copy for the car and one for home. I love it. My grandchildren sing along to Route 66 and now they know other songs on the album. We need another Michael Holmes album.

Keeping it short - I am saying this is a great CD for the genre and it is true to the original form for which it is intended. You will NOT regret having this CD in your regular selection; or in your mix of classics. Origianl in it's own right, this mix is a testament to true crooners of the day.
