Cover Girl is a "mainstream" song but its inditement of the superficiality, materialism, and consumerism of modern Western culture is certainly reflective of traditional Native American viewpoints. It is also a song very much concerned with identity - this theme of identity begun in Cover Girl is continued in various permutations in Against the Grain, Weekend Warrior, and I Am Muskogee.
