Michael has been a close friend for the past 20 years since we first met at the University of Kansas. I always knew he would put together a first class project and this CD is truly remarkable. His melodies are incredible along with the intricate harmonies. It’s only a matter of time that Grazing The Land will be playing on jazz stations world wide.

Rare Privilege

It’s a rare privilege to be alive when the next great jazz artist surfaces out of the mainstream of musical talent that exists today. Such an accomplished artist is Michael Ray Tyler. His inaugural CD Grazing the Land is sure to catapult him into the ranks of this country’s greatest flugelhorn players, and elevate him right up there with the most distinguished members of the jazz kingdom. His charts are beautifully original, and his unique instrumental and vocal arrangements, coupled with his pulsating rhythms are captivating to the most critical listener. From his sensitive treatments of “Sailing” and “The Lady in Red” to his original and suggestive reggae sound of “Stardance” Michael Ray has transcended the standard jazz genre and has produced a truly unique and extremely “listenable” CD. Heartiest and most enthusiastic congratulations go out to him. If you like smooth jazz and are ready for a new, creative taste of it, this CD is for you.

Hey colleagues: If you like Jazz, like the sound of Chuck Mangione you need to hear "Grazing The Land" by Jazz Trumpeter Michael Ray Tyler. As Fred Sturm used to say back in the 80's!' - "Cool"!! When I first heard it, I immediately thought of Chuck M. before reading the jacket. Check it out!!
