    i bought this after seeing Ingrid on Good Morning America because her voice was so soothing. I actually bought two so I could send one to my daughter-in-law who needs some downtime music with two little ones. Ingrid's voice is amazing!     Simply great. I'm not nearly in the age group who would normally enjoy this style of music (my adult daughter recommended the CD), but I am very impressed. A little Suzanne Vega, a little Joni Mitchell, with a very young Nana Mouskouri look... Ingrid's style made me feel young again, remembering those great artists, but with a style all her own. Reminded me of the days when I would listen to college radio stations late at night just to hear something new and different. Ingrid is very creative, very unusual -- with great poetic style. Some songs are funny, some are wry, some are rueful...but all very good. "December Baby" had me listening to it over and over. "The Way I Am" I think is my favorite, but there's not a "skip-over" on the whole record.

    I have to admit, I loved the old navy commercial so much I had to find out who she was. The album is fantastic, I love her voice and I love the lyrics. Kind of reminds me of Feist, but with a little less pop.

    This whole CD is pure bliss to listen to with headphones on a quiet night. Outstanding sound quality, and Ingrid's voice and catchy tunes will be stuck in your head all day.     I bought this as an anniversary present for my wife after researching what that blasted song was she kept singing from the Old Navy commercial (it's "The Way I Am", from this album). Turns out just about every song on this album is as catchy and poignant. My daughter (20 mos.) is constantly singing "breakable, breakable, breakable..." from "Breakable". What's best is how authentic it is. Nothing sounds over produced, or tailored to a focus group like so many other currently popular, young, female singers. You can tell Ingrid is singing these songs, in the way she does, because they are about who she is, how she thinks, and what she wants to say. Truly a great album.

    I didn't discover Ingrid Michaelson in some cool way like randomly finding her music and loving it or anything like that. I was just sitting at my computer and heard the Old Navy sweaters commercial on tv featuring her song "The Way I Am" and I just had to hear more of it. I searched her music, listened to a few of her songs, and decided to buy her CD all within one day of hearing the advertisement. Needless to say, I love her music and her voice.     Well i don't watch TV but I listen to music- a lot. One of my regular podcasts, the Indie Launchpad featured her a while back and well, I got the album as soon as it came out. Great music- she has that brilliance and slight "am I really doing this?" excitement to her voice that reminds me of a 17 year old Allison Krauss, Deb Talon when I first saw her at Passims, Michelle Solberg and few other fantastic artists. I really don't see how anyone who likes CD Baby artists would be anything but delighted they purchased this album.

    I was introduced to Ingrid Michaelson this summer when she was touring with her band on the Hotel Cafe tour at Bellayre Mountain Music Festival, in Highmount, New York. Her live performance was hauntingly flawless with a talented back up band. Her CD girls and boys delivers that same wonderful images that I experienced at her live show.     girls and boys takes me to a place where times were good. usually i have different tunes to go with my mood... this entire c.d. makes me feel cool when the weather is too warm and also warms me up when the weather is too cool. i hope that makes sense! thank you ingrid for taking feelings and turning them into melodies. i love it.

    Bought the record simply because I was looking for something new on CDbaby, and this record is really a breath of fresh air. It is one of those rare recordings you like almost instantly, and then it continues to grow on you. It is also rare in the respect that all of the songs are good, so playing the album from beginning to end actually works without ever touching the "skip" button. Very nice work! And if I got it right, this is the second album from Ingrid. The second album is usually considered to be a difficult one, because some artist spend all their great ideas on the first. But this one, "girls and boys" definately is one of the most enjoyable CDs I have bought in the last 3-4 years. Way to go, Ingrid!

    Her music on this cd brings me back to sanity, it's soft and caressing without being sappy. Most of the songs are about love, but they're interesting musically and lyrically. Her voice is not predictable, which is refreshing. I think that after awhile, all of the songs could run together, or seem similar, but in this case, that's great.

    This CD is great to have for background music if you're bopping around the house... studying, working, cleaning, etc. Highly recommend it if you like female singer-songwriters who aren't always full of angst. Also: beautiful voice, and good jangly guitars. well done!
