Album Notes
This album has been called a masterpiece. Originally released in '97 it is now available after being "out of print" for quite some time.

Michael Thompson has been a top call session guitarist in L.A. for many years. He played on more Billboard top ten singles in the 90s than any other guitar player. In fact, one particular week in '96 his playing could be heard on five of the top ten songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart!

This album,"The World According To M.T." has been a favorite of guitar players and music lovers worldwide. It often appears on many guitar players "top ten all time favorite albums" polls.

"A Change is Gonna Come" has been called the best version of this song ever. It got significant U.S. R&B radio airplay and actually made it onto the Billboard R&B chart with no record company support!

The songs "Miracles" and "Midwestern Sky" have been covered several times by European recording acts but "The World According To..." contains the consummate versions of these songs.

"The World According To M.T." is the precursor to Michael's current album "M.T. Speaks" and together the two records show the scope and depth of this man's artistry...

The World According to M.T.
This CD is truly a masterpiece and a must have for any up and coming guitarist. Michael Thompson is an amazing guitarist who blends a Jeff Beck style Jazz-Rock with some of the most tasteful R&B guitar work ever done to date. His tone and touch on the guitar is truly suberb and he is probably one of the very best in the world at it. This CD starts with the beautiful "Intro"/"Sajabelle", a hauntingly melodic 2 pieces which just seem to let you know that you are in for real listening pleasure. "A Change Is Gonna Come" is definately the very best version ever done of this Sam Cooke classic. And Bobby Womack has never sounded better. Just listen to Michael's solo on this song and you will know why. "Chocolate-White" is one of the funkiest songs Mike has ever written, and one of the best songs on the CD. Michael's solo on "Chocolate-White" is truly incredible. Neil Stubenhaus's "Zoobie-Dee" is a true delight and a great fun piece for Michael to cut loose on. "Hey M.T." is a progressive blend of musical feels which features bassist Stanley Clarke and former Ellis Hall Group band mate Stanley Benders on congas and percussion. The album ends with "The Real Book", a great instrumental rock-funk ballad where Michael justs tears it up. All in all, a masterpiece. 'nuff said.
