I discovered Michael at Club Passim in Boston some ten-odd years ago when he was just pushing his first CD. Since then I've had the pleasure of seeing him many times in 'concert'. Mill Town Boy, like his two prior releases, is a tapestry woven from Michael's roots. Some songs are sad, some optimistic, but all are visceral tales of life, love and labor. I think I still like his first album the best, as it includes no backup instrumentals/vocals to obvuscate his Rag-timey guitar playing or lyrical delivery. That being said, in Mill Town Boy, like all his albums, you will find songs that move you and make you think. See Michael if you get the chance and definitely pick up his CD(s).

Michael draws on lyrics that puts you in the song. From Shine Boy, a song rooted in days gone by to Progress is a Slow Train, that looks forward to change, he narrates and captures you.....all the while with an accompanyment of instruments creating mood and texture that keeps pulling you back in for more.
