Writer Michael Wexler continues what can only be termed a surprising musical streak with this third, and beautifully melancholic, record. If the title track "The Fog," is not enough to put you in the mood think of a rainy afternoon or morning light.
With only six songs on the release, it's hard to pick favorites from "Plastic Man" to "The Last Hoorah." It seems, as Wexler no doubt intended, they all play a role in delivering the message. A message replete with longing, lost youth, regret, hope, and despair.
Fans of the previous two offerings ["It's Too Late to be a Rock Star" [EP] and "For The Fun"] may be pleasantly saddened by the more sublime notes of "The Fog," but soon enough they'll be happily entranced.

A Soulful Collection

A great songwriter, much like a great poet, is distinguished by the ability to impart a range of emotion through deft combination of word, melody, and rhythm. Wexler's poetic prowess is evident in this album, The Fog. Wexler manages to be introspective and engaging at once, allowing the listener to peek at his soul just enough to avoid seeing too much. The songs are contemplative, with a meditative quality that makes listening to the album in its entirety, from start to finish, a satisfying journey.
