Album Notes

Michael Young is a fingerstyle guitarist who plays both the six and twelve-string guitar with driving rhythm and groove, and he carries that bouncy and energetic groove from powerful and compelling compositions to soulful ballads. Moving from daunting and alarming to lighthearted and idiosyncratic instrumentals, Michael takes advantage of the guitar's possibilities by combining standard and alternate tunings with a mix of slide guitar into his playing.

Michael's debut CD, I Listen To My Feet, is a collection of his 17 favorite original tunes. These favorites include 13 solo guitar tracks and four songs in which friends on upright bass, bottleneck slide guitar, and percussion join Michael.

Through the recording's liner notes, Michael's wry sense of humor and peculiar outlook emerge as well as a peek into some of Michael's philosophies on creating music, which explains the meaning of the recording's title. This insight allows the listener to gain a more intimate connection to the music and to Michael.
