BIO
Emmy winning (and five time nominated) composer and songwriter Michal is now on her third record deal. The first was with RPM, a label owned by Tony Bennett's son, Danny Bennett, and the second with Columbia. Signed to Columbia by famed A&R man Don Devito, Michal shared the roster with Springsteen, Billy Joel and Dylan. She has finally found her home with a credible independent, Shorebreak. A classically trained pianist and self-taught guitar player, Michal writes all her material and gives a captivating live show. A veteran of SXSW, CMJ and the New York Anti-Folk Fest, Michal has also graced the stage at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and most of the clubs in lower Manhattan, since she first began playing out at the age of 17. A composer for One Life To Live on ABC, she has also appeared on the show and been a feature performer on the Oxygen Network's morning show and Studio Y. Her music is included on the Dawson's Creek album and on Delia's In Your Head Sampler and Giorgio Armani in-store samplers. She was the featured face for Urban Decay's Face Case. Her first record, Sky With Stars, was critically acclaimed, garnering rave reviews from, Seventeen, Stuff, Cosmogirl, Twist and Rollingstone.com, among others. Her song "Life Without Me" off her sophomore release Coma appeared in the HBO movie Kiss the Bride on Feb 14, 2004 and in a COACH campaign. Kiss the Bride is currently available on video and DVD. Her new album "Desireless" will be released in October 2005. She graduated Yale University Cum Laude, with distinction in her major and was inducted into the political science honors society this May. This summer she toured the world with Yale's all-senior, all-female a capella group, Whim n' Rhythm, and she is currently attending Columbia Law School, where she plans to study entertainment law.

Coma
author: Mark MandelAll I can say is Michal is a very gifted young woman. When I met her at J & R Music World I knew she was someone special and to this day my opinion has not changed.
Lovesick...
author: Mateo MorenoI've been searching for any new Michal music since I discovered her debut a few years ago, and I've fallen for this CD just as much, if not more. Amazing music, and wonderful lyrics, Michal is just fantastic...
Really good
author: AndreaThe CD is really good. I love the easy melodies and deep lyrics.
Great effort - this artist has great potential
author: JimI give this release a 4 for the potential it holds for the artist. 2-4 of the songs are brilliant, inspired, catchy, and intelligent - surprisingly well-produced considering the CD was a CD-R (not pressed). Some of the songs were outtake-quality, but the solid ones are VERY solid.
Love her - bought all 3 CD's.
author: LauraLoved this CD so much that I searched out and bought her other two! While I love the music on this CD, the packaging is pretty bad (and I've ordered independents a lot) - slim case, xerox insert without a listing of songs. If you don't care about that, though, it's a great CD.
Awesome! Another Fiona!
author: Karen LangefeldThis CD is wonderful. She has such smoky vocals and wonderful writing skills. I can't wait for the next album!

this CD is absolutely fucking amazing. every song has a different feel and makes you want to listen to it over and over again. i put this CD in my car the day i got it and still haven't taken it out
Captivating
author: JessMichal wraps her metaphors with beauty and raw emotion. A more clearer Tori Amos and a light version of Fiona Apple. Michal's lyrics can easily reach into the hearts of adolescents and young adults, but her poetry is meant to be next to Anne Sexton, e.e. cummings, Emily Dickinson, Merrit Malloy, Sylvia Plath etc. All the great poets. Not only is her music inspiring, her voice is unique from every other artist out there. She is amazing!
- author: CD Baby
Swirling somewhere between Michelle Branch and Fiona Apple, Michal spins a clean, polished pop album with stirring backdrops, captivating lyrical lines and upfront, bold conviction. Mixing together the acoustic and electronic, the sassy and the sweet, her distinct musical voice will ensnare female pop lovers with the first track.
Velvety voice, excellent instrumentation, smart lyrics
author: B JerlingaThis CD is brilliant. Some compare her to Fiona or Fisher, but her voice has a smoky quality that is all her own. This CD captures both the strength and silkiness of her voice. The instrumentation is also gorgeous. She is supported by strings, piano, guitar etc. without being overwhelmed by it. The music is stirring, soaring. Perfect for a long drive, when cleaning, or if you just feel like belting out a tune! Lastly, Michal uses metaphors, and other literary devices to make her lyrics shine. She doesn't baby baby baby. You won't find cliche's here. Nope! 5 stars!
Simply amazing... Impossible to hate
author: Jessica (referred by Michy)This CD is amazing... I barely heard the first song and loved it. My friend (Michy who started my liking for the musical stylings of Michal Towber!) is the ultimate fan of this music and well I began to wonder and she had me listen to some of it and I ADORED it. I would recommend this CD to ANYONE who likes music.
A true piece of art
author: M.C.The best thing about the songs on this CD is that all the songs are completely different from normal songs. Most songs have a story that the lyrics stick by. Michal allows her lyrics to go farther than just the story behind them -- they penetrate her feelings and emotions which makes it easier to relate to them. Her music is 100% original and true. You can't compare her or her music with anything else. Her poetry is above expectation, and you'll love it, no matter what age you are!
This CD is bound to leave you breathless!
author: Michelle (Michy)"You're heaven sent, but I'm hell-bent..." "I'll be laughing loud simply to be there..." "Sugar won't sweeten what I have to say..." "But I couldn't spare the roses when I drowned the weeds..." "My happiness lasts a moment, I don't own it..." "I could almost taste and touch peace at last..." "You are the secret I keep so well, never tell..." "My white knight rode away with his sword in his side..." In this 11-track CD, Michal demonstrates a wide range of music styles -- all of which will keep your toes tapping and your spirits high! And the best part is, these songs are perfect for anyone -- my mom and I listen to this CD constantly, and we're 36 years apart! You'll love all of Michal's powerful and original lyrics, and the way she communicates her thoughts and expresses her feelings through her words and her music. Finally, songs that you'll LOVE having stuck in your head!
