Album Notes

TIMBRALIA is a word invented by Michela Aliberti, Luca Gherardi and Michele Orsi. This word embodies their musical choices, inspired by the multiple tone-colour threads played by Michela (diatonic accordions), Luca(hurdy-gurdy, harpsicord) and Michele (bombarde, shawm, English horn, recorder, oboe, ocarina). The old taste is expressed by the utilisation of epoch instruments and
by the presentation of a repertoire inspired by the popular music of Middle Age and Renaissance: contemporary music is represented by the original compositions of Michela and of many XX Century authors. Also, folk music is present, in revisited songs, popular dances and through the use of traditional instruments.

MICHELA ALIBERTI - DIATONIC ACCORDION
Michela Aliberti is a concert performer, composer and teacher of diatonic accordion. She attended her degree at the Università of Bologna (D.A.M.S.). After the piano diploma her interests turned towards the diatonic accordion and to popular traditions in publishing "Diano's
and Cilento's wall songs" and, along with Accordeon Ensemble,a collection of Italian, French, Yiddish and Iranian music. The beauty and the expressivity of the diatonic accordion spurred her to explore, in her CD "Timbralia", new sonorous spaces through the contamination among genres: antique music, ethnic music of
the Mediterranean and Anglo-Saxon area, classical and author's music. She has an intense concert activity in Italy and in many other Countries, as soloist and in ensemble. She participated to the "Music and Poesia" Festival at Accademia della Crusca in Florence, together with actors Virginio Gazzolo and Maria Grazia Pintus. She composed a musical trilogy, inspired by the book "Cuore di
madre" (mother's heart) of R. Alajmo. Michela's compositions have been inserted in the cartoon movies of
director Katia Rinaldi. Michela has also participated, as accordionist, in the movie "Matrimoni" of Cristina Comencini. She has cooperated with actor Piero Sammataro to the setting up of piece "U'cuntu", student songs and illusions in Mediterranean Middle Age.
