Rare talented vocalist who will raise a few eyebrows with her latest effort!
author: Vasja IvanovskiFeedback: Excellent production and happy-go-lucky and impeccable performance by Michele with excellent band cooking behind her. I'd like to check her vocals in live setting as I'm sure she's doing great job that way too. This is music with a variety of influences should be in everyone's collection. Michelle struts her stuff with verve and passion, and even with generous playing time, one is sorry when this CD is over. We want more!
It reminds me of a group of friends sitting in someone’s basement having a great
author: Bruce AitkenMichele Mele’s third album, Feel, is an exploration of moods and rhythms. The first track, What’s So Funny, sets the tone for the entire album. The mood is light and fun and ranges from blues, to sambas, to straight ahead jazz. With exception of Beginning to See the Light and You must Believe in Spring, this is all original work. In contrast to many of today’s vocalists, Michele allows her band to shine throughout the album. In the opening track, Guido Basso plays flugelhorn with his usual cool elegance. Bill McBirnie has wonderful flute solos on Perspectivity and Costa Rican Birds. On Why Choose, tenor man Michael Stuart beautifully complements Michele as she slides around the lyrics. By far my favourite though, is the piano work of Bernie Senensky, who sets the tone throughout the album, whether it is a quite blues or a bossa nova. Also backing up Michele are Lou Bartolomucci on guitar, Lew Mele on bass, and John Mele on drums. This is a well produced album that feels more like a live performance than a studio album. The balance of rhythms and textures keep you interested all the way through. Bruce Aitken www.jazzsnaps.com March 17th, 2006
