WHAT I DO: Adult alternative with ethnic spice is what Michele Moreno mixes up with her sensual voice, electronic touches and world influences.
BIO: Michele began her career as a backup singer for several California-based indie bands and then met talent manager Atallah Shabazz, who placed her on a tour of Latin America with Spanish superstar RAPHAEL. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Michele focused on film & TV scores. Her vocal credits include the feature film KINGDOM COME (starring Whoopi Goldberg) & HBOs SIX FEET UNDER.
Then in 2002, she landed an audition with the legendary RAY CHARLES. Her lush, smooth vocals won him over and she went on the road again, this time as one of five Raelettes on the RAY CHARLES East Coast tour. Michele then went down under with her husband to Brisbane, Australia where she launched the BIRDIE MENDOZA show (jazz, Latin and Brazilian standards).
All the while, she was composing & co-producing her own brand of trip-POP songs. While drawing from ambient artists such as DIDO, ZERO 7, MORCHEEBA and FROU FROU, Michele began adding world influences to her music, such as Middle Eastern inspired vocals and ethnic instruments like hand chimes, Asian mallet instruments and latin percussion. Her world sound is influenced by global-centric artists such as DAVID BYRNE, BECK, THE BEATLES and LISA GERRARD. Her blend of pop & electronica with world flavor makes her music ambient, modern and mysterious.

Plastic Garden offers a full-circle versatility...
author: Jennifer Pirih
Plastic Garden offers a full-circle versatility with tones and lyrics that feels like an ideal soundtrack to chill-out moments. You will be taken on a journey of pain, ego and love. There will be some Trippin’ and when you find your way, you will dance and move and be one with the stars.
Michele Moreno’s first album does not disappoint. It opens with her voice luminously hushed between meditative beats in songs like Reach and Dandelion. Life being given to tranquil melodies.
Lighter Mile is an enchanting masterpiece with an upbeat tone that blends soulful acoustic guitar with eclectic rhythms-even Michele’s bellows lend themselves as an additional instrument in this wonder. Bringing it down a notch in Golden Past, you can’t help but be intrigued by the mystery of seduction unfolding before you.
Closing the album with a Latino flare are Descubri and Ruby B which rings true the phrase ‘saving the best for last’. Ruby B is a colorful and fun song gets your body moving and would put JLo to shame.
