Album Notes

Even though she has two records released, over ninety songs written and hundreds of live shows under her belt, 25-year-old Michelle Armstrong feels that her career is just beginning. A riveting and spirited performer Michelle writes and sings melodies that compliment her skills as a vocalist, often compared to great singer song writers like a modern Joni Mitchell or Patty Griffin.

Born and raised in Rancho Cucamonga, Southern California, Michelle grew up on musical theatre stages since the age of four. She took private vocal lessons, competed in vocal competitions and studied piano. During high school, a passion for songwriting was evident, she picked up her first guitar at 14 and has not stopped playing and writing songs since.

While living in Los Angeles she honed her song writing and performing skills as a regular performer at local venues including the Viper Room, The Key Club, The Knitting Factory, Genghis Cohen and others. During this time she was developing her “sound,” a singer song writer with pop and folk overtones. She left Southern California at twenty- one to follow a boy to North Carolina. There she recorded her first album the soulful and rootsy “Lemons”.

On her latest release, “Apples” Michelle set out to capture the raw emotion of her live show. Songs cry out in a celebration of love, and the pleasure and pain associated with it. Michelle resides in New York City where she performs and continues to spread the word about her music.
