Album Notes

WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

“Wanted Dead or Alive” – a gritty 80s rock anthem that was a massive hit for Bon Jovi on their 1986 album Slippery When Wet – might seem like an unusual choice for a 12-year-old girl to cover. Michelle Creber is not your average child singer, though; backed solidly by multi-instrumentalist/arranger Andrew Stein, she rocks out on the lead vocal with style that’s far beyond her years. She’s the real deal, and like the song says: she plays for keeps!

Michelle is a multi-talented performer who works as a singer, actor, dancer and voiceover artist in Vancouver, Canada. The child of professional musicians, Michelle first joined her parents onstage at age one, and has never looked back. She has appeared on concert stages ranging from Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre to the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, and her vocals have been compared to those of a young Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin and Nikki Yanovsky.

Michelle is a featured singer on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and her solo vocals can also be heard on The Magic of Christmas CD (with The Rankin Family & The Nylons), the soundtrack for The Search For Santa Paws (Disney) and PBS Kids’ Martha Speaks. She has also recorded background vocals for Kristen Chenoweth’s album What A Lovely Way To Spend Christmas (Sony Music). Active as a voiceover artist since she was 7 years old, Michelle’s credits include the speaking and singing voice of Apple Bloom and the singing voice of Sweetie Belle in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (The Hub/Treehouse), Lucy in Peanuts Motion Picture Comics (in which she was cast after an extensive North American search), "Alice" in Martha Speaks (PBS Kids) and guest characters on Dinosaur Train (Jim Henson/PBS). A true triple threat, Michelle’s musical theatre credits include “Dorothy” in The Wizard of Oz (Footlight Theatre, 2011), two acclaimed performances of the title role in Annie (Theatre Under the Stars – 2009 E.V. Young Award, and Gateway Theatre – 2010), “Brigitta” in The Sound of Music (Footlight Theatre 2010), and “Tiny Tim" in A Christmas Carol (Footlight Theatre, 2008). Michelle’s recent screen credits include guest star appearances on The Haunting Hour (The Hub/Teletoon) and Supernatural (The CW Network), a principal role on sci-fi series Eureka (NBC), “Charlene” in Christmas Lodge (NGN), and acting, singing and dancing as “Taylor” in The Search For Santa Paws (Disney). As a motion capture actor, Michelle also played the role of “Chelsea” in Holiday Barbie (Mattel).

Besides her professional endeavours, Michelle is a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who enjoys playing piano, drums and guitar. She also loves sports, games, art, crafts, photography and her two dogs, Max & Marley! She has an enthusiastic and active fan following on Facebook and YouTube, and is excited to be releasing her first full-length studio recording – an album of covers and original songs – in summer 2012.

Easily worth a dollar, and deserving of its glowing reviews. It stays true to the original song, but still has the perfect amount of "uniqueness".

It's been a very long time since I last heard a girl around the age of 12 with such a beautiful singing voice whose also not just talented in singing but acting as well! I've never bought a song online before out of principle but for this I'm more than happy to make an exception. You have a bright life ahead of you Michelle, don't make it go to waste.

Michelle Creber and Andrew Stein are outstanding in covering this Bon Jovi classic. How a young singer like Michelle can bring out that renegade feel of the original, I don't know, but she does it, and with her own unique flair! Meanwhile, Andrew's handling of the music is fantastic, bringing a bit of his own touch to it with a more acoustic feel similar to the "Unplugged" version, and that bridging solo will make you want to rock out just as much as the Sambora original.
