The Piano Inventions - Opus 45 are an inspired set of works composed in the Winter of 2009. Perhaps inspired by the thoughts of Spring, or the wish for a restoration of her garden, the composer Michelle Ende' has created ten thought provoking works.
The term "inventions" is taken from Bach's use of the word as an exercise for the pianoforte. Here, the composer expands the breadth to a more free form exercise in which a theme is found, developed, and varied with little or no recapitulation. The purpose of the opus is to simply create mood through use of a particular instrument; in this instance, the piano.
There are ten inventions in this Opus, or body of work, which range from Minor to Major in their mood. Some of the inventions begin in a minor key, as the G Minor (number 9) and ends in the major key of the dominant.
The composer's words in regard to this are simply this. "I was standing in my small garden listening to the fountain and the birds around me and I could smell the coming of Spring. I was moved to make music over this and tried to convey the peace and serenity of a small garden to the listener. A romantic garden where love is felt and heard all around."
For the composer, this is Peter Stanislauw, hoping that you enjoy the peace and tranquility of your garden, wherever it may be, as Spring comes leaping into our lives once again. Truly inspirational music for the meditative soul.
About the composer, Michelle Ende' was born in Chicago and instructed in the musical arts, particularly Classical Pipe Organ, Classical Piano, Theater Pipe Organ, and Classical Orchestration, Harmonic Theory, Counterpoint, and Composition. Although she has won no awards for her music, she continues to compose because of her passion to compose, occasionally performing locally in Tampa, Florida where she now resides. Her music continues to inspire, awe, and move those fortunate enough to have stumbled upon her works. - Peter Stanislauw
