This CD is a must have for any Malone fan and a good introductory CD for those not as familiar with her - it's a "best of" 2 disc set with several songs from each of her 10 studio releases - and what a wild ride it's been!
Michelle Malone has never been satisfied with sticking to either folk or rock exculsively, probably becasue she does both so well. In keeping with her defiant independent attitude, she rocks when she wants, plays beautiful sweet ballads when she feels the need.
" I love Michelle's songs and her voice- it was great to record and tour with her." -John Mayer
"an incredibly gifted vocalist." - K.D. Lang
"She's practically a member of the band" -Indigo Girls
"Michelle is fiery and passionate, whether it's rocking with abandon or ripping your heart." (Billboard Mag)
"Michelle Malone ROCKS! Easily one of the greatest voices in the business, an untouchable songwriter, guitarist, and vocalist, Michelle is always giving 110 percent." (GOGIRLS.COM)
"Hello (2001) is ALBUM OF THE YEAR...I have not been this impressed since I first heard Emmelou Harris or Lucinda Williams...It's intoxicating to listen to Michelle achieve greatness...."
- Atlanta Magazine
"Her lyrics ripple with Dylanish imagery and a fierce will to survive." - Mademoiselle Magazine
"The kind of singer and songwriter who can jolt things into overdrive." - New York Times
"A troubadour with grit and enough accessibility to warrant widespread acceptance." - Billboard Magazine
"A songsmith on par with Paul Westerberg, Malone performs power pop without parallel." - Washington Times
"Malone has steadily shaped music that is elegantly honest and genuine for over 10 years." - Curve Magazine
"One of the few young female guitarists finding a niche outside 'alternative' music." - Guitar Magazine
"An exceptional voice capable of smoking langour and howling catharsis." - Washington Post
"Another testament to Malone's Gritty, lean, well written rock. She has the soul of a folk singer, the heart of a bluesman, and the guts of a rock and roll star all wrapped up in one fiery bad ass." - The Nashville Rage
Out of the Atlanta folk rock cauldron, Michelle began her recording career in the music scene with such illuminaries as The Black Crowes, Indigo Girls, Collective Soul, and Shawn Mullins. (She is considered by Amy and Emily to be the third member of their band.)
