Album Notes

Michigan Mark DePree returns following up his 1998 release "Hi" with the 2000 release "For A Friend". If the musical styles presented on "Hi" was all over the map, "For A Friend" has expanded that map. This disc features 7 original songs 2 of which are instrumentals. Mark also puts his own spin on classic songs such as Mississippi John Hurts "My Creole Belle", Gram Parson's "Hickory Wind" and Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away".

Michigan Mark has spent the last 3 years performing in West Michigan with his band Michigan Mark and The Blue Aardvarks who are featured on the opening cut "When the Blues Come Knockin'". Along with The Blue Aardvarks this CD includes many West Michigan musicians. Also including a guest appearance by Vince Junior playing slide guitar on "My Creole Belle". "For A Friend" travels smoothly through blues, country, folk and rock for a very pleasant and interesting musical ride.
