Album Notes

The Mighty Aphrodite Jazz Band is an exciting group of young women from up and down the west coast of Canada and The United States. These seven dynamic females are one of the hottest new bands to hit the jazz circuit! The group ranges stylistically from hot new orleans to early swing, powered by strong ensemble playing, inventive soloists, and of course that female touch. Be prepared for something different. Smart and sassy jazz at its best! This is our second CD. It was recorded live November 10 - 12, 2006 at The Arizona Classic Jazz Festival, (www.arizonaclassicjazz.org). Personnel: Bria Skonberg – trumpet and vocals Claire McKenna – clarinet and vocals Emily Asher – trombone and vocals Shannon Thue – piano and vocals Shelley Park – guitar Georgia Korba – bass Beth Goodfellow – drums

Your CD "Mighty Aprodite" is marvelous. I am a jazz musician (traditional New Orleans)and have written several books and articles on jazz. I have been a friend of Jim Cullum since he and his father opened The Landing in the late 1960's. He's played with my jazz a group and my band has played at The Landing. I think it's great the way he is promoting young traditional classic jazz. Bria, your trumpet playing is awesome, your band great. I'm looking forward to more of your records. Wish you could play at the Texas Jazz Festival in October here in Corpus Christi. I'll see what I can do about that. Charlie Boeckman

Hello, I live in England and just bought the # LIVE IN ARIZONA # album . This is first time I have heard of an all women jazz band and they play great jazz, very nice solos and ensemble tunes, they should no doubt achieve a good popularity rating and it is well worth buying this album, of course if you either prefer studio recordings to # live # then they have a studio album too.
