Album Notes

Juan Miguel... (John Michael Roch)

JMR was born in Barcelona, Spain. At an early age, with his family, he moved to Cuba where he lived for twelve years. There he learned to appreciate Latin rhythms. Later, after having moved to the US he began playing in local rock bands. Originally a bass player and later on, drummer for various rock acts, he toured and recorded as well as writing material for the band. After producing and writing for various independent artists, he began a solo career and started to write for himself. This time switching to keyboards and choosing the "romantic" style of music evident in his compositions. With the help of a few friends, all excellent musicians, he began to put together various musical projects. The first release, “The Bridge”, laced with passionate instrumental music marked a new beginning for this artist. His second effort entitled “Your Kisses... Your Lips”, was released next. This is another collection of romantic melodies which has been called "love making music." The third album “Amantes” (Lovers) is a compilation of re-mixes sprinkled with a few new songs and a definite Latin flavor. It’s a collection of ardent instrumental and vocal music with bewitching melodies and sensual rhythms. It features live instruments interwoven amidst a patchwork of electronic soundscapes, inspired string arrangements and driven by a variety of Urban and Latin rhythms. The latest project, “When it Rains” contains all new material and although some of the songs may qualify as “different” from the previous albums, the romantic flavor remains. John Michael Roch’s compositions, supported by the musical talent of his friends have created recordings that are stirring, memorable, very romantic and yet driving musical creations.

Absolutely mind blowing. Very sensual, unique combination of erotica and soft jazz. Even better than I was expecting. A one of a kind. Love Juan Miguel's music.

Incredibly sensual and romantic

This is an incredibly sensual and romantic album. Let’s just get that clear right up front! Keyboardist Juan Miguel (John Michael Roch) draws on his Latin background to create his third album, AMANTES (Lovers). The CD is a rich and passionate soundtrack for your most intimate moments. Born in Barcelona and raised for 12 years in Cuba before moving to the U.S. would explain his affinity for ‘musica romantica’. Sr. Miguel layers acoustic guitar, woodwinds, harmonica, violin, and both whispered and sung vocals (en Espanol) over his sensual keyboards, percussion, and electronica. The result is a most delightful collection of musical soundscapes… Powerful. Riveting. Sensual (can’t really overemphasize that word). This is a “feeling” album, so we invite you to feel the power of such compositions as “Besame,” Secretos,” “Una Noche en Manhattan,” and the title, “Amantes.” There is a Yanni-esque style of passion in Juan Miguel’s playing and compositions, but there remains a definite uniqueness. Especially as the songs are all Latin tinged… Extending from Spanish lyrics to bi-lingual album notes. Our advice with this album is simple: Buy it. Then share it with your amante (real or fantasy) on those special times when the nights are warm, the lights are low, and amore is electric in the atmosphere! ~Scott O'Brien
