ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, pop/ballad singer/songwriter, Bassaíl first hit the international music scene with the presentation of his first CD titled, “Camisa de Fuerza” (Straight Jacket). The CD is an exciting artistic production of original and recorded music featuring the tantalizing upbeat sounds of Latin pop and a selection of seductive romantic ballads, which includes his cover of Alaska y Dinarama's "Bailando" a big hit for Bassaíl in Ecuador, and the hit "Vete de mi Vida" co-written by Bassaíl.

Bassaíl's artistic career began in Puerto Rico at the young age of 16 with appearances in television commercials, modeling, and a soap opera. Bassaíl's first stage appearance was when he performed in two of Sir Noel Coward’s works, including playing the leading role in “Blithe Spirit” at the María Buzó de Del Valle Theater in San Juan, Puerto Rico. During this time he also appeared in “El Show de Chucho Avellanet” and the soap opera “La Verdadera Eva,” both Telemundo network productions.

After graduating from the prestigious American Military Academy, Bassaíl's artistic career took a back seat to his education as he continued with his studies at the University of Detroit in advertising and public relations. It was during this time when Bassaíl began taking courses in theater. He then transferred to the University of Minnesota where he graduated with a degree in communications and a minor in theater with a concentration in acting.

Following graduation Bassaíl began taking voice lessons with notable Austrian voice trainer Alice Dushack in Washington, DC. He continued to pursue work in marketing while doing occasional stints in theater, including his first opera in 1991 performing Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” with Opera Americana in Alexandria, Virginia.

Bassaíl has been featured in New York’s RCN television production “Ecuador Tierra Que Canta”, the New Jersey production of “Slice” at The Priory in Newark, “The Brown Sugar Show” and “Expression of Experience.” Bassaíl is one of the lead vocals in the project “Family in Action for Montserrat” with Rita Marley, Ziggy Marley and Arrow among others and is featured in the CD, video and concerts sponsored by the United Nations for “Family In Action for Montserrat”. He has performed at the Sunshine Music Awards in New York and hosted a television special for Ecuador.

Bassaíl also wrote the popular music column Nota Musical for Latino’s, one of New York’s leading Hispanic newspapers and Hola Berks for seven years. He also hosted his own radio show for Radio Omega in Pennsylvania.

As a model, his image and voice have been featured in numerous international campaigns for Ford Motor Company, Cerveza Presidente, LA Bank, GPU Energy, Wrangler Jeans, Marca Tennis Shop and Banks Beer.

Most recently he has been producing the annual Verizon Wireless Mother's Day Concert in Chicago to benefit survivors of domestic violence with the participation of stars such as: Nydia Caro, Pilar Montenegro, Jenni Rivera, Diana Reyes, Pablo Montero and Rogelio Martínez. He is also working on a new project to be produced by Cuban composer, producer and bassist Danny Rojo, lead singer of the ground breaking group Pornoson.
