Album Notes

"could easily be the missing link between the edgy, guitar-laden Jellyfish and the later day solo workings of Jason Falkner. "
"This is an exquisite mix of pop songs that will linger in your memory long after the first few spins. "

"A knock-out effort packed with 16 songs of supremely solid Power Pop. This debut twists and turns, with flat-out rockers and well done pop ballads, most of which promise velvety pop pleasure to fans of the genre. Much of the time, Mike Elgert sounds like Robin Zander, and while its tough to nail down influences, we can hear Cheap Trick, Foo Fighters, Jason Falkner and Starclock.
Featured Tracks: "Nothing To See", "Someone Took My Part", "Run Further", "Retire""

""Said Too Much" - Imagine Jellyfish or Starbelly with Robin Zander as the lead singer. That explains this track from Mike Elgert. Jangly (but not too jangly that makes it whimpy), with a killer hook that gets stuck in your head for hours. A great start for an artist that deserves to be heard a lot more of. Great stuff!"

"Id say that Mike Elgert deals in old school 70s pop-rock and wonder seriously if that is a put down. It isnt. With a strong slant towards the powerpop muse of Dwight Twilley, Cheap Trick but also display a love for the country-rock-blues affectations of the Black Crowes, which makes for a good mix. Elgert basically plays every sound you will hear on Days Gone By. A talented musician that the pop underground can proudly can call its own."

Days Gone By never felt so good
author: suede
Have you ever sang along to a happy-sounding song only to realize that it's actually rather sad? Days Gone By (Longynis Records) is an album that will have you relating to the good times and bad with every track, though even the bad times will feel good. Mike Elgert (vocals/guitar/bass/drums/keyboards) brings the rock and melody in the vein of your favorite Crowded House moments, soaked in that Jellyfish sound, and laced with the simplicity of The Beatles. This is pop music at its best; this is rock; this is your heart on happy; this is the new sound of Detroit. With sixteen tracks, a rarity these days, Elgert is able to touch upon topics of self-worth, messy relationships, love, and loss. The songs crafted for Days Gone By combine melody and precise sound with an intricacy that has been recorded to please even the most discerning audiophile. Mike Elgert's debut solo album has been released prominently with songs for everyone to enjoy for years to come.
