Album Notes

wabi-sabi, the first independent release by the Mike Emerson Project, is an adventurous collection of instrumental songs in a variety of musical settings.

The recording, finished in just 4 days, brings together the talents and magic of some of the San Francisco Bay Area's most visible musicians---Andre Bush and Chris Rossbach (guitars); T Moran and El John (drums&percussion); Kevin T. White, Matt Robinson and Eric Hayslett (bass); and Pat Miller (sax).

Mike Emerson (keyboards, ringleader), has performed extensively throughout the United States, Europe and Canada with a wide range of musicians---Percy Sledge, Zigaboo Modeliste, Elvin Bishop, Carlene Carter, Earl Thomas, Angela Strehli, Chris Cain, Tommy Castro, Terry Haggerty, Harvey Mandel, Ivan Neville, Brady Blade, Tony Hall, Debbie Davies, James Armstrong, Christine Lakeland, Mic Gillette(Tower of Power), Marc Russo(Yellow Jackets, Doobie Bros.), Will Ray(from the Hellecasters), Bobby Vega, essence, The Gluey Brothers, Johnny Dyer, Daniel Castro and Thad Beckman, to name but a few.

His Hammond B3 and piano stylings can be heard on many independent recordings (Jessica Will, Brigitte Demeyer), on San Francisco bluesman Daniel Castro's live cd "Live at the Saloon" and on James Armstrong's latest release on Hightone Records, "Got it Goin' On". Passionate and spiritual, the Mike Emerson Project awakens the senses and inspires mindful movement.

"The Mike Emerson Project will inject your body and mind with a sweet, intricately woven, funkified groove. An essential part of our day." - Gary Franklin, Asst. Program Director, KHUM/FM
