Album Notes

Mike Isaac’s Debut album “Sunrisin” is a collection of 9 original tunes, most are instrumentals with two Rnb flavoured songs with female vocalists; Maria Marcial and Christina Shergold.
The music is in the smooth jazz arena with a little fusion in some of the melodies and without the blandness that sometimes undermines the genre.
There are some nice funky grooves in there and a tasty samba (summer of ’76).

Mike is primarily an electric bass player and he supports, orchestrates and solos using 4, 5 and 6 string fretted and fretless basses.
Mere technical noodling and bass gymnastics are avoided in favour of solid grooving and clear melodic statements. As Mike often says “if you can’t sing it …”

The album features some of the Uk’s top jazz talent including trumpeter Neil Yeates, guitarist Steve Buckley, Duran Duran’s Simon Willescroft on sax and ex Faithless drummer Andy Treacey.
These terrific musicians and a host of others contribute to the album with their great playing and fantastic solos.
