When it's time for sundowners or a romantic supper, this is the ideal album. Mike Laatz plays mostly tenor sax with a smooth, low-down breathy sound, and he's joined by Andrew Ford on a concert grand piano. Andrew is undoubtedly the finest jazz pianist in South Africa; his style lies somewhere between those of Gene Harris and Oscar Peterson.
Add some double bass, gentle drums, and perhaps a good bottle of wine, and you have the perfect recipe for an hour of relaxation.
