Album Notes

Reciprocity, the CD, features Mike’s blues, jazz, and swing vocals and, of course, dobro.

“I invited some friends into the studio and recorded fourteen of my favorite pieces. ...a couple chestnuts, a couple originals, a couple instrumentals, some blues, some jazz.” Mike said. “In short, we had a blast making the recording and I’m confident you will like the result.” Musicians Mick Nicholson, Rolf Vegdahl, Orville Johnson, Ron Peters, Nova Devonie, John Malloy, and Jeannie Kappel contributed to the project.

Lundstrom began performing as a singer/songwriter/guitarist while in his early teens. At seventeen he spent a year busking in Europe, then returned to the United States, enrolled in college, and began performing at coffeehouse venues in the Southwest and Midwest, as time permitted. At age twenty-one he went on the road as a itinerant musician, performing six nights a week. The music became an avocation when he began a career in photojournalism.

Sixteen years ago Lundstrom was forced to abandon the guitar because of an extreme case of tendinitis in his left wrist. He taught himself to play the dobro (or resophonic guitar) and music once more became his primary interest.

“I’m singer first, and an instrumentalist second,” Lundstrom said. “To me, the dobro is primarily an accompanying tool. I can’t claim to be unique, but I don’t know of any other musicians who utilize the dobro in this manner.

Although Lundstrom claims the dobro is secondary to his voice, he is a four-time winner of the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival dobro contest. He also contributed to the compilation CDs, Resophonics Anonymous, released in 2000, and the Resophonics Anonymous second recording project, Relapse, released in 2005.

Lundstrom collaborated with fingerstyle guitarist Vegdahl on the CDs, Christmas Gifts (in 2001) and Hymnody (2005). His solo CD, Please Accept This Simple Song, was released in 1996. In 1995, he appeared on Behind The Barn with Tab Tabscott.

Lundstrom has appeared at the Tumbleweed Music Festival, the Northern Rockies Folk Festival, Northwest Folklife, the Columbia Gorge Bluegrass Festival, Basin Summer Sounds, the Leavenworth Summer Music Festival, the Chelan Bach Festival, and the Boise River Festival as well as numerous other Northwest venues.
