A few short years ago Mike Lynch embarked on his very first Canadian Tour in his old 91' Safari Van fully equipped with a bed, hibachi, sound system, and gigs booked! Mike rolled down his very own 'Highway of Dreams', playing bars, coffee houses, and sometimes street corners, while making friends and fans along the way.
Travelling from Ontario all the way to Dawson City Yukon, he finally returned home to Niagara to record his brand new album called 'MJL was here',featuring some of his songs from his cross Canada adventure.
Mike Lynch's love and appreciation for traditional country singers like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Conway Twitty have helped him in evolving his own unique style. Blended with contemporary favourites of today like Blue Rodeo, Steve Earle, and Stompin' Tom, his singing and songwriting have found their own unique flavour.
Mike's latest album features new songs from the road - "My Life Is A Big Vacation", "Highway of Dreams", "She Called Me Lover" and the title song "MJL Was Here" - a song about a guy who carves his name in a park bench in Winnipeg, but you'll have to hear it to find out what happens! Mike Lynch's new album - MJL Was Here!
Raised in small town Beamsville, Ontario, in a family of hockey players, with a hockey coach for a Dad and a great fan in his Mom... Mike was supposed to be the next Darryl Sittler... But Mike's love of performing, singing, and country music had become his true passion.. "I think I freaked my Dad out when I told him I was going to music theatre school, when I was nineteen", Mike recalls.
At the age of 24, Mike wrote and recorded his first album featuring songs like "Christian Girl" and "Outside My Window". This widely acclaimed album received a heavy buzz on college radio circuit, and Mike was soon signed to Page Music, the Barenaked Ladies' label.
In 2001 Mike traveled to Nashville to finish his album 'Shindigg' which saw two top 50 hits on Canadian Country Music radio; "I Remember Everything" and "Round Here (Everybody Knows My Name)".
Mike's sound has a strong cross-over appeal. He has shared the stage with a variety of acts such as Moxi Fruvous, Skydiggers, Great Big Sea, Roger Hodgeson (formerly of Supertramp), Ron Sexsmith, Jason McCoy, Ronny Hawkins, and comedian Dave Coulier among others.

MIKE LYNCH MJL Was Here (Independent)
August 25th, 2007
MJL Was Here is the product of Ontario singer-songwriter Mike Lynch's cross-country road trip that took him and his guitar to Dawson City and back.
On the title track you meet the Winnipeg cop who wasn't impressed with his park bench-carving abilities, the girl who left him broke(n) in the Yukon, the misfits who introduced him to marijuana and more.
Blending country influences both old and new, Lynch's plaintive vocals will garner comparisons to Stompin' Tom and Jim Cuddy (seriously), while stripped-down arrangements evoke Johnny Cash and Steve Earle. Lynch has the unique gift of making you feel like you're right there with him on that highway. Real stories. Real heart. Real music.
