Mike Snowden - Summer in the Fields

What can I say? I'm hard to please when it comes to music. I'm open minded and enjoy many genres of music, mostly punk, metal and rock. A recent blues epiphany and a lot of luck lead me to hear a track by Mike and I couldn't wait for the album. I was certainly not disappointed. An instrumental album has to be pretty special to keep your attention throughout. This is one album you can play on a loop and not get tired. The guitar sound has a real organic heart felt feel to it. The song arrangements feel so natural, like the music is just pouring from the guitar without force. The diversity of the tracks gives a broad appeal. From the rootsy slide blues to the rocking whisky fuelled dirty riffs. You can hear the passion in the chords. "Porch Song" just gives me goose bumps each time I hear it. I will bore every music loving person I know and those I don't about this guy. The music deserves to be heard, not just by me and the select others, but the masses. The album title paints the picture of the music. It is officially the soundtrack to my summer and I hope it is a long one. Music to kick back to on a summers day with a warm breeze, cool beer and lose yourself with a smile and tapping foot. I don't write reviews but I cannot praise this album highly enough. Don't keep the music to yourself Mike, we WILL want more. Cheers from the South of England.
