Since the early 70's Mike has been performing his songs in a variety of venues and cities.
From the streets of his native Pittsburgh, PA to touring the Northern New York College Circuit to being a regular performer around the San Francisco Bay Area in cafes, bars and street festivals
Mike has delighted and intrigued audiences with his observations, both angry and tender, accumulated over the years as a critical and nuanced observer of contemporary American life.
"Original folk pop type songs. Telling stories and making observations about life. Mike's songs are crisp, unique and original." Herb Gura KMUD
"His voice almost seems out of time, as if it were lifted from the early 20th-century Carter family recordings. And to top it off, he combines his somber vocals with pensive lyrics to really push your mind, your ears and your eyes towards the surrounding social-political world.
Strasser's vocals are the key to this song's success. He's a great storyteller ... you can feel the tragic elements in his voice.
This is definitely an album for those seeking thought-provoking music in conjunction with a singular style.": Rambles: C. Nathan Coyle: 9 July 2005

"Probably best described as part Tom Waits' better singing brother/part romanticist, Strasser...has produced an interesting CD. For a first-timer, Strasser nicely employs shifting melodies with the different songs so that each one stands apart memorably and individually. He provides interesting characters and entertaining stories that make this a worthwhile CD.": Kevin McCarthy, 12/04

This is the first I've heard from Strasser. His vocal style on this CD is beat up enough to make me want to know his backstory. His styling makes each word important. It's like he's carving them out with a worn blade. After one hearing, I can't hum a single tune, but I remember some great images.
Alienation Cafe starts out bleak but every once in a while, his phrasing reminds me of Harry Nilsson. There's something new going on here.
