Music should not only, be used for entertainment and marketing purposes.
You could use it to meditate and calm yourself to peaceful places.
Miles uses the same ingredients to compose music.
Like all Great musicians that play Jazz, Social music,Classical, Pop, Rock, Blues,Rap,Punk, Funk,Indian,African and hundreds of the other styles that somebody came along and made it up and, put a label to it.
If you're thinking they use a Secret Magic Formula?
YES indeed they do- and here it is ,
this
" do re me fa sol la ti do"
and another half a dozen rhythms is their secret weapon they use 100% of the time to carry their message across !
Think of WORLD WAVE as a small Story book with Ten chapters unfolding its contents to you.
world wave is a tune that was written about the TSUNAMI
Tragedy that took innocent lives away. The instrumentation
used for this composition is pretty unique and Miles delivers the perfect mood required for this piece
Punisher was played on a single 5 String bass without any overdubs or fixes.
if you listen to this album a few times it grows on you
keep an open mind throughout this listening journey.
Miles perry
Miles was born in India Calcutta and was named after the Great Jazz Musician Miles Davis.
miles was actually supposed to play the Trumpet like his father Chris Perry who began teaching him since he was 5 years old but
somewhere along the line after 3years of playing it miles had a fight with his father and quit the trumpet for the Guitar. at age 10 he went to see the movie Woodstock and Hendrix
put a spell on him ever since, after he came home from the
movie he could play purple haze and star Sprangled banner on his brothers white stratocaster don't ask how? a rare gift he giggles.
The guitar became his obsession and
he spent every waking hour learning to play the entire
Hendrix in the west album,
when he was about 15 and getting into Jazz.
a buddy on the block named Mel turned him onto the heavy weather album and some Mahavishnu orchestra records. at that time miles discovered Jaco was doing so much on the heavy weather album that he switched to the Fender Bass almost instantly from guitar
he went back to his dad from whom he learnt the fundamentals
of reading music
but he still couldn't play jazz as easily as he could play hendrix so he packed his bags and went to B.I.T
now known as Musicians Institute and the rest is history

Pure Magic
author: Rootsman Vince
This CD really showcases this guy's talents as a composer and player. Not many world class bass players can lay claim to solid all round musicianmanship and composing. Different elements combine to create a wonderful musical experience. I love the way the tracks evoke different emotional responses and shift gear through a landscape of Eastern, jazz, rock, pop, new age, to name a few, without losing touch of the soul. This music has to be heard to be believed. Very therapeutic, something to bring humanity together and the sleeve drives that point home well. Track 10 will bring you to tears. What a beautiful tribute. Track 8 - If Hendrix were alive he wouldn't want his tunes treated with any less slink and groove. Right on brother

This album really grows on you with each listening. There is a lot of detail that you can come back to enjoy with each listening. The east/west fusion on this is completely successful and communitcates the message of unity around the world in the face of unexpected, catstrophic events that affect us all. The power of World Wave hits you like thunder and then pulls back to let the sunshine and hope return in playful moments. Cheers for bassist,Miles Perry!

A great cd from one who learned from the original masters... Trust me, I was the graphic artist who worked for Jimi & The Stones during those great late 60's years! Can't go wrong here.
