At a time when just about everyone is doing a CD who plays an instrument, Bobby Militello demonstates what a consumate pro sounds like being a cut above the others. Not many living horn players in this league today. Bobby Jones also demonstrates something unique: all bass being played on the pedals and not the common organ-sustained pedals (much easier to play) but the thumpy Hammond bass that fits jazz correctly. Something Jimmy Smith always alluded to (playing all bass pedal bass) but played most if not all on the lower manual. Bobby Jones is a master of the jazz technique on bass pedals while keeping the said 'thumpy' groove sound. I do not believe any organ player today has mastered his technique as well with the unsustained bass pedals and deserves this recognition. This is a CD you will listen to over and over and hear something different each time. Could possibly be one of the best organ trios ever formed being refreshing that many are guitar trios HOWEVER with Jones playing all bass on pedal on parts without horn and soloing he comps himself on the lower manual such as a guitar would. Unusual and unique CD. Militello goes right to the top of horn players in my view with 'Bird' and Sunny Stitt. Bravo!

I had never heard of Bobby Militello until I found out he was touring with Dave Brubeck. I loved his sound and looked him up on Google. After I heard a few sound bytes off of CD babys website, I had to buy it. What a great CD and a good mix of music.

We gave this CD to our grandson who is taking saxaphone and is really loving it. He described the CD as 'really cool'. We've always enjoyed this music as well. Since Bobby Militello is from the area where we all live, we thought it would be fun for Chris to get inspiration from a local guy.
