Clint Miller’s landmark concept album follows the trail of the Modern Day Cowboy through twenty-one songs connected together in an epic story. Epic, to the extent that, in his own words: “This is an album about drifting, murder, robbery, addiction, sex, love, prison, and the open road.”
*
You will first meet the Modern Day Cowboy at the Robert E. Lee Motel by a ghost highway in the hills of Virginia. Fueled by the outlaw music of Act One, you will tail him as he gambles and shoots his way down shady back-roads into Tennessee. You will meet Wayne, Charlie, and the Devil, among others. You will follow the Cowboy back into Virginia as he returns to a lost love, softening his soul in the sweet jazz of Act Two. You will meet and fall for the lovely Jessi. Still on the run from relentless lawmen, however, you will soon flee south with the Cowboy. Under the heavy backdrop of hip-hop, by Act Three, you will end up beside him in a jail cell in a South Carolinian prison. And you will escape with him.
*
The album features many songs with Grammy Award winning up-right bassist Rusty Holloway and the notorious hip-hop and reggae drummer Yattie Westfield, along with some smooth swinging brushwork by David Whitaker. Clint Miller himself played upwards of fourteen different instruments throughout the recording process, including all flat-top/arch-top/electric guitars, mandolin, lap steel, soprano ukulele, claw-hammer banjo, harmonica, dobro, piano, and a bit of bass, drums, and percussion.

The album was recorded at Castle Acoustics in Knoxville, TN – in a modern day castle. It was engineered by the revered Joel Fairstein and mastered by Seva. The album was produced by Clint Miller.

Amazing

One of the best CD's I have heard in a long time. Finally an artist who knows what he is doing the entire album. Every song is great and worth multiple plays. However, nothing can top listening from start to finish. This truly is a great story and worth your money.

Clint Miller is a cross between Jonny Cash and Bob Dylan. If you care for either of these guys you'll love "Ballad of a Modern Day Cowboy" !!!

What a great novel
author: GSpears
After hearing heavy play of two of the albums songs on XM Radio, I made the purchase. What a great buy.
The album listens like a novel reads. Beginning with a self-defense shooting, continuing with running from the police, hanging out with drug dealers, an out-of-wedlock son, incarceration, a jailhouse murder, an escape, a payback murder, and a spiral into mental illness. Just an awesome storybook. Fiction, I hope :)
Also, police officers will love this CD. Every song is about cops, crime, guns, drugs or jail.
