Album Notes

*NOW recieving airplay at ProgRockRadio.com

After nearly 2 1/2 years since releasing Echoes of Oblivion, Mark returns with a new album that is
a throw back to the "concept" or "theme" albums of long ago. In the vein of Pink Floyd, King Crimson etc.
One recent listener called it a "Dark Side of The Moon for the new millenium". Due to fan request's, this album is in rotation at Prog Rock Radio (progrockradio.com)
Complete with refreshing
use of the "ancient" synthesizer sounds of moogs, arps & mellotrons contrasted against acoustic guitars. Chaos in the Landing Zones takes off quick and never looks back. The thread is continuous and keeps you curiously wanting to process the spiritual, social and human implications of mankind's modus operandi in a modern world gone seemingly haywire but not without hope and redemption for those who seek an alternate path.
With a few obvious tributes such as "Crafty Strands"
for under-rated prog giants Happy The Man. Sunhillow en Rotation is a tribute honoring Yes vocalist Jon Anderson's "Olias of Sunhillow".
The multi-layered synthesizer extravaganza "A Treatise on White Magic" definately finds Todd Rundgren
as a source of inspiration. Anyone that grew up in the 70's that was a fan of progressive rock can't go wrong
in scoring this CD. Anyone that appreciates the psycho-acoustic experience of Pink Floyd through
headphones will not be disappointed in approaching this work in the same way. Check the samples & decide for yourself.

Great prog CD with a great anti-war subtext

Yes is my favorite band and of course progressive rock my favorite type of music. I have been captivated by Jon's Olias of Sunhillow since it was released in 76. Ever so often I will google olias of sunhillow tribute to see if anyone will ever do such a thing. Then last week, this CD pops up! First thing I did was DL Sunhillow en Rotation. I was so knocked out I DL'd the rest of the album. Although the rest of the album is different from SER it is very good prog indeed with a great anti-war subtext running throughout. Very clever theme and concept. Excellent work by an independent artist with good keyboard work. Rick progrock4ever@yahoo.com

major flexing of synthesizer muscle

The more I listen to this CD the more convinced I am that this is a case study for classic synth sounds and technique in general. From the hovering raindrops in Chaos 1 to the mind melting layers of A Treatise on White Magic this is a synthesizer tour de force. I am not sure exactly what synths are used to get the sounds on this disc, sometimes it seems like the classic analog machines from the 70's but then it also seems like more modern gear is used for the arpeggiation modes. The style of playing is dead on too. Either way, any fan of progressive rock from the 70's must have this CD. Any Jon Anderson or Todd fan will be blown away by the tributes here. The most incredible thing is someone is still doing music like this in 2007. All he has to do now is a Zappa tribute and he will have a grand slam.
