Album Notes

The Electric Buffalo Story
Electric Buffalo was born out of a promise to record what was thought to become the last recording amongst long time friends Colin, Dave and Keith. Realizing that Dave's health was noticeably failing, the three made a commitment to complete a recording that that for themselves would evoke the emotions, spirit and memories of the band's influences and time together. The band enlisted the help of guitarist Nate Garrison to round out the attack.

The songs of Electric Buffalo range from punk rock influenced criticism of the way we hypermedicate our children (5,6,7,8). The imperialism of the United States in the Middle East (Shot to the Vein), the gentrification of American Indian Culture (Rainmaker), wild nights in New Orleans (Girl Named Jones), and other classic forays into Americana Rock.

The first day of recording, September 30 2005, drummer Dave Stephens was released against doctors wishes from a San Francisco hospital, where he laid dying from complication of AIDS (which included; Toxoplasmosis Spinal Meningitis, PCP phenomena, Esophagitis, and internal hemmoraging), to record the CD.

It was a very emotionally draining and physically difficult week, which required a great deal of patience, love and support to get Dave, the band and the crew through basic tracking.

In February 2006, MILLER Bassist Keith Stater wheeled an ailing Davey onto an airplane for what was thought to be the last time they would see each other. Davey spent weeks in a Southern California Hospital where he actually FLAT LINED twice. Once released from the hospital Dave spent the next months in a hospice. Through the dedication of his physicians and caretakers, and his own inner strength, Dave has made a miraculous recovery - MUSIC and MILLER his motivator, ELECTRIC BUFFALO his statement. We thank you eternally for the love and support-ENJOY.

This is the kind of band with the kind of sound, style and soul that only comes around every once in a while. I had never heard of them when I, by chance, caught a show in California. I went there to meet this blind date, who was pretty hot, but when these guys took the stage they stole everybody’s attention. Mine, hers, everybody’s. It's like one of those things you really can't explain. They didn't have pyrotechnics or big hair. They weren't really loud or in your face. They didn't need cheap gimmicks. They just got to playing and it was a magical experience. Just like what happened to me at my first U2 concert, Coldplay and a small handful of others. Now when I listen to one of their CD's, I'm transferred back to that moment and everything is good. I wish more bands had this kind of effect. I don't know if they'll ever get big because this isn't Brittany and Justin dance-off nonsense, this is real and this is powerful medicine. Rare to find these days. I hope they keep doing what they're doing. Oh, and if one of the guys in the band happens to read this....thanks man. A guy in Ohio. PS The blind date went extremely well and now "our" song is one of their songs. I hope other guys out there end up as luck as me.
