Ragini's are ' female' ragas. These pure, sublime melody forms originating in ancient India are meant to express the essence of feminine energy. 'RAGINI' is 50 minutes of mellifluous, sparkling bansuri flute music by Mindia Devi with Dana Pandey, a disciple of Ustad Zakir Hussain, on tabla, the Indian drums. You will hear classical ragas and bhajans (divine love songs) to Durga, the fierce protector Goddess, and Bhairavi, the quintessential Earth Mother Goddess. Both up tempo and contemplative, expressing deep pathos, playfulness, devotion and peace, RAGINI evokes a surrendering to the joys of meditative union.

Mindia Devi Klein is a multi award-winning musician composer and one of the world's only female bansuri flute players performing on the scene today. She has committed herself to a life of music following the muse's spirit of creativity where ever it takes her. A disciple of both Ustad Ali Akbar Khan and Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, two of the worlds leading masters of Indian classical music, she is also a Fulbright Scholar of Balinese Gamelan and a jazz flutist with deep roots in the classic NYC jazz scene of her teenage years.
