MATT MINGLEWOOD. ...guitarist, pianist, singer, composer creates an inspired blend of country, blues, roots and rock. He exhibits a true understanding of many styles of music that enables him to create a unique sound, a musician who had done his homework. His records remain fresh, untainted by fads and rock/pop music urban frenzy. Both on record and on stage Matt keeps the music thriving and vivacious. From introspection to full blown rockin' blues, Matt's music is always marked by his adept song writing, sturdy vocals, searing guitar work and his ability to enhance the boundaries of one of music's oldest forms....the blues. He is a performer who never gives less than everything he has each time he takes the stage. After eleven recordings and thirty years of touring from Cape Breton to Vancouver, Europe and across the United States he has earned the respect and loyalty of thousands of devoted fans who love more than just his music ------they love his heart.
His music is described as sassy, witty and fiercely independent with spirit and soul. It has always reflected his life around him and what he is feeling at the time. Nowhere is this more evident than on his latest cd, 'Live at Last', recorded in Sydney, NS, outdoors on a chilly night in September at a festival aptly named 'Minglefest'. It is a Cd charged with the earnest live energy of musicians who rocked night after night throughout the clubs of the North and with the addition of Jeff Healey on guitar and Michael Pickett on harp the band cooks! Laying down the bottom end and giving the band its driving force, is veteran bassist Grant Leslie, drummer Moon McInnis, and a man who can sure tickle the ivories, Jim Ralph.
His song, "Me & The Boys"was recorded by southern-rock legend Charlie Daniels on his CD of the same name. Many major artists (such as Jeff Healy, Jimmie Rankin, Duck Dunn, (Bassist for Eric Clapton, Neil Young and the Blues Brothers), Colin James, ZZ Top, Downchild Blues Band and Grammy award winning Blues harp player Charlie Musselwhite) just to name a few have joined Matt on stage and CD. You never know who may show up to " sit in " on any given night!!
Matt Minglewood is a living legend in the Canadian music scene and his popularity across the country are a testimony to his timeless appeal that transcends all ages and musical boundaries. Ask any Minglewood fan why they keep going back to his shows time and time again ---it's because the band is always cookin' and you can count on a rockin' good time!!!
Through the years, Minglewood has been honored with many accolades and awards including:
* 2006 & 2004 East Coast Music Awards for Blues Recordings of the Year

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Minglewood is a living Canadia
author: Blues Beat Magazine/Tim Holek
Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Minglewood is a living Canadian music legend with timeless appeal. His 10 previous albums date back to 1976. Now he has just released his first live CD. Recorded in September 2002, the 74 minute set includes virtuoso guest guitarist Jeff Healey on all 13 tracks. Five are covers and two songs have never been recorded by Matt before.
Minglewood combines southern rock, country, Celtic and blues into every cut. That signature sound and storytelling abounds on this disc. Listen to Whiz Kids and you will hear catchy fervent rhythms, aggressive piano fills, zestful vocals, choruses with east coast jigs and changing melodies. Sometimes music can express more than words. Sometimes words can express more than music. Travelin’ Man equally says I Love You via both. The song gives hope that not all blues-rockers are womanizing drunks.
Matt Minglewood has spent most of his life on the road. It won’t surprise you that most tunes come with a rolling down the highway attitude where caution is thrown to the wind. If you enjoy a high energy, double-barreled attack that rocks your blues, you’ll love this CD. It’s crisp Minglewood production makes you wish you were there. The ashes left in your CD tray will confirm just how much this CD smokes! More info is available at www.mattminglewood.com

Received Matt's Live At Last" CD today, and its out of sight. I listened to it twice, and in my opinion it is truly a treasure of great music. You have done it again Matt-The sound is absolutely the best I heard in years. Jeff Healey, what can I say more about the guy-unbelievable-he adds so much to the CD.
