-MINLUS+ (pronounced mindless) and McCracken are a hip hop duo based out of Maryland. Their styles, while very unique from each other, compliment traditional boom bap beats flawlessly with the intention of bringing story telling and original concepts to their songs. The time has come for the world to meet -MINLUS+ and McCracken. Their debut album "Rock and a Hard Place" has just been released, and has all of Baltimore, Washington DC, and everyone in between scrambling for that rookie card. The album's release party occurred in front of five hundred fans and a sold out venue. Due to overwhelming demand it was clear that the CD's in their trunks and backpacks had to be available to the public more conveniently. "Rock and a Hard Place" is now available in forty seven retail stores, cdbaby.com, itunes, undergroundhiphop.com, and several other internet stores. At this point their intention is to build their already strong following and be heard by the rest of the world.
While coming from completely different musical backgrounds the two MC's have been writing and performing together relentlessly for three years. They have played major supporting roles in countless events and parties including opening for Method Man, Rakim, Guru, Kool Keith, Slick Rick, Digable Planets, The Beatnuts, and JedI Mind Tricks just to name a few. They also keep in close contact, and have done numerous shows with, their good friend Beetlejuice of Howard Stern fame. Local radio play, constantly performing, appearances, and charitable fund raisers have made them the face of hip hop in a very saturated and competitive area.
-MINLUS+ and McCracken and "Rock and a Hard Place" have been received extremely well in their part of the world and they are confident that the rest of the world will agree.

Anyone and everyone that likes HipHop will love Minlus

It doesn\'t matter where you are from, what style of hiphop is your favorite, or who is your favorite artist, Minlus is for you. Trust me when I say this, Minlus is one of the best artists out there today! I just bought two CDs for friends because they wanted me to burn them copies of it. I refuse to burn a local/upcoming artist. If I feel strongly enough about Minlus to buy 3 copies of his album (including my own), you should take my word for it that the tracks are worth every penny! The whole album is dope.

I'm calling it now . independent album of the year goes to Minlus and mcCracken .Between a rock and a hard place is easily one of my favorite hip-hop albums of 2007 thus far, underground or mainstream, and is a masterpiece of poetic, lyrical and productive proportions. Every track on this album is dope; every verse is quotable; every song is both intellectually and socially significant. I just can't stop listening to this album, and I guarantee that most fans of meaningful conscious hip-hop will feel the same.

This album will be worthy "classic" status in the very near future

They are known as Minlus McCracken, consisting of MC's Minlus and McCracken, and together they sound like Fat Joe from his chainsaw era. Rock And A Hard Place has the kind of cover artwork that might make people mistake it for a GBH or other punk release, but this is rap music, and very good rap music at that.
The two combine sample-based production with a band that they tour work, and both styles are done with equal emphasis, so it's not just a band with half-assed musicians or producers with samples worse than dollar bin gems. They celebrate their love of hip-hop from the early 90's by rhyming hard over beats that are raw, distorted, and a cratediggers dream, as they rhyme about the metaphors that are really real. They don't rhyme about things they aren't, or situations that they have no experience with, they touch on how rough life can be but how things can change if one has the courage to move forward. When it's serious, you'll hear them touch on politics briefly, but if they're talking about wanting a bag of weed or a few drinks, they also talk about sharing that with everyone.
They remind me a bit of what Cypress Hill and House Of Pain on their first albums, where there was some sense of magic that you were witnessing and you wanted to tell everyone that you were a fan. Both groups changed their formula slightly for their second efforts, and while I encourage all artists to progress with their music, it will be interesting to see and hear how they will follow something that will be worthy of classic status in ten years. It's that good, and it may move people to request them on the radio, and see if they can take their mission to phase 2. I hope they proceed and succeed.
