Album Notes

Woo hoo! It’s my first release! The production is simple… just me on acoustic guitar and vocals, with a dash of harmonies. I decided to do this project to build momentum for the full CD, to distribute the much-requested "The Monkey Song” to all who asked for it, and to practice being in the studio. I am mighty proud of this project, and excited to share it.

If you don't want to buy the whole CD, you can download "The Monkey Song" for free on my website (www.ryanmintz.com) or purchase individual tracks on iTunes.

And if you have no idea who I am, then let me introduce myself. I'm a singer/songwriter who writes heartfelt music in the acoustic/folk/pop style. People tell me my songs are honest, sensitive, and romantic (yay!)… and recently some have commented on my ability to infuse humour with all of that (huh… who’d a thunk for a serious emotional type?!). As for my sound, sometimes people say I remind them of Cat Stevens, which is quite an honour! However, most of my strongest influences are female singer-songwriters: Alanis Morissette, Indigo Girls, Aimee Mann, Lisa Loeb, Jonatha Brooke, Jewel, and Chantal Kreviazuk. In recent years, some of the boys have crept in too: Ben Folds, Rufus Wainwright, Matt Nathanson, and Damien Rice. I have been moved to create music ever since I picked up a guitar in the fall of 2000, and I now have a catalog of 50+ songs. But it’s only recently that I’ve started to put myself out there as a “recording artist” – and boy does it feel good!

As for my life outside of music… some good descriptors are: openly gay, world-traveler, environmentalist, peace activist, self-aware, romantic, vegetarian, writer, hiker, dancer, and dreamer.

Watch for my full album, due out in Fall of 2007!

And yes… I’ll be your monkey :)
