notes
"Miranda Henry Russell will knock your socks off - should you be wearing any this close to the beach." -Boston Phoenix
All the Pretty Little Horses - A Lullaby Collection has received the prestigious Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold Award, and the NAPPA (National Parenting Association) Honors Award.
Miranda's voice has been likened to Sarah McLachlan, Linda Ronstadt, and Eva Cassidy. She has been involved in music all of her life. At Loyola University, New Orleans' College of Music, she underwent an intense study of classical and operatic vocal training. While in New Orleans, she managed to glean a few "bad habits" from the notorious local blues giants. Her eclectic vocal style is influenced by many great musicians, not the least of whom was her mother, collector and singer-songwriter Daisy Nell. Other favorite musical influences include Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Joni Mitchell.
Her 1996 return to the New England area was marked by three consecutive seasons at Gloucester Stage Company, home theater to internationally celebrated playwright Israel Horovitz. At GSC she delighted audiences in Still Crazy: A Tribute to the Music of Paul Simon, Tapestry: A Celebration of the Music of Carole King, and Fascinating Rhythm, George and Ira Gershwin. Miranda also impressed audiences and critics in her leading roles at New Hampshire's Seacoast Repertory Theater in Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar, and My Fair Lady. The summer of 2002 hailed her return to Gloucester Stage to appear in Berlin to Broadway, A Musical Voyage with Kurt Weill.
Currently, Miranda is thrilled to announce the release of her debut album: All the Pretty Little Horses, a Lullaby Collection.
She makes her home on Boston's North Shore with her husband and their two young children.
