Miriams Well

by Miriams Well

Miriam's Well is opiated rock and roll. It's raw and real; it's honky-tonk,country style with a little gospel groove. This is just good music with special guest appearances.

Like cantaloupe and cheese this CD is cool, rich and honest. I was left wanting more and more. Five songs weren't enough but Odessa is going to be a classic.

Bruce Botka

Nice album, but doesn't capture the spirit of the band's live performance.
I bought this CD after returning from the 2007 Portland Blues Festival, where Miriam's Well gave an intense, soaring performance before a smallish crowd on the Back Porch stage. They were definitely better than a number of the bands that performed on the two main stages. This 5-track studio CD contains some pleasant music, but unfortunately doesn't come close to capturing the energy and style of that live performance. So if you're looking for a replica of the blues festival sound, you should wait a while and hope the band's next CD satisfies that need.
