Misa Malone, the daughter of a singer, who is the daughter of a singer, cut her first teeth on a song. Raised in the Church, she sang lead for The Sunshine Band at the tender age of 7. As she grew, singing became her way to express love and joy; the love of God, and the joy of living. So, Misa sang. She sang at Church, in school, in plays, with groups, in the studio; always singing.
Singing revealed to Misa that it was through music that she derived true pleasure. Music became a living thing in Misa's life; something that physically moved her. Her love of music cascaded into adventures into dance, writing, and poetry. This artistic combination enhanced by her statuesque frame and beauty parlayed into a modeling career through which she was featured in several music videos by prominent Bay Area Artists. Evolved by experience, Misa decided it was time to explore the art of making music and she began writing and performing her own songs. This path meandered through the land of supporting other artists singing background and "flava" on album projects, to membership in female vocal groups, to supporting recording projects for and collaborating on material in studio with some of the best Producers in the business, to finally, working as a solo artist with bands in front of live audiences.
In the energy of the live audience, Misa found her home. "Being in front of an audience - creating music, sharing emotion, and having it shared with you, there is nothing like it. It's something that cannot be recreated in a studio, there is this energy that is tangible, almost touchable - it's wonderful”. This was the launching pad for her solo career. "In the universe of music, I consider myself a neophyte, a student. There are so many different facets, and so many intricate nuances to creating music and harmony. I am humbled by the dynamics, and feel blessed to be a participant. My blessings include opportunities to work with truly remarkable people, and to tap a vast knowledge base, a font of musical information. I have grown in my own music on so many different levels. It's humbling."
"Awesome" and "Awe-Inspiring" are just two of the words Misa's audience use to describe her performances and her amazing vocal talent. Now finally after a long wait, Misa is embarking on a CD project entitled: Shades of Blue, slated for a June 2006 release. "This CD is a birth of many things, lessons learned, love and chaos, all of the things that make life worth living. I am beginning a life quest into the realm of solo musicianship, so on this project, I take my listening audience on a journey from the depths of despair to the joys of unconditional love, from emotional and physical bondage, to the freedom of mind, soul, and spirit. Soaring high, flying far away............"
