Album Notes

Misinterprotato are an Australian, Brisbane based trio comprising Sean Foran - piano/rhodes, John Parker - drums/percussion and James O’Brien - electric bass.
Forming in 1999 while studying at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music they have forged a unique sound focusing on exploring original works composed by the trio.
Misinterprotato released their debut “now for the free” in 2003 to wide critical acclaim. The Sydney Morning Herald called them “full of brilliant promise” while The Age noted - “a polished debut...finesse not usually found on a first album”.
It is this maturity and confidence that led the band to perform at Melbourne Jazz Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Japan World Expo, QLD Music Festival, Valley Jazz Festival and many more.
In 2005 the trio are releasing their new record “IN IS IN”. The album was toured through Canadian Jazz festivals in June and showcased at the Australian Music Market in Brisbane before being released nationally through Jazzhead in July.
Misinterprotato are pushing the boundary of jazz and improvised music and appealing to a wide audience in the process. With a sound influenced by modern European jazz, popular music and contemporary composers, their music is beautiful and intense at once. Misinterprotato focus on space and emotion with interaction in the trio integral to the music.
A Misinterprotato performance can range from sparse atmospherics to jagged grooves but remains a unique sound with broad appeal.
Performed - Calgary Jazz festival 2005, Resident artists Banff Jazz Workshop 2005, World Expo Japan, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Wangaratta International Jazz Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Valley Jazz Festival, Brisbane Music Festival plus many more.
