Iowa-born, Chicago-based singer/songwriter Steve Beyerink has been releasing music and performing under the name Miss Autopsy since 2003. At that time he released an album of home recordings called "Ruhr," which mixed loud, thrashing guitars with heavy drum machine beats and a lo-fi recording aesthetic. It went mostly unnoticed, due in part to the sound quality and the unsettling nature of the songwriting and vocals. He played a few scattered shows over the next two years, playing solo while a drum machine ran percussion loops through the PA.
The second album, "Sweet Killers," released in November 2005, benefits from better production in a real studio. It was recorded and mixed in Dallas, TX by engineer John Congleton over the course of four days. Taken as a whole, it's a bit quieter than "Ruhr," but the lyrics still mostly deal with the darker side of things like serial killers("A Quiet Night Tonight"), crime sprees ("Do Not Hit the Brakes"), and nuclear holocausts ("Premonition"), although not always in an in-your-face way.
