I SO much loved the 80's hard rock scene. When I grew up, I wanted to be the bass player for Twisted Sister! But, as years went by, God began to convict me that my involvement with bands like Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, Poison, AC/DC, etc. was coming between Him and me. In 1990, I got rid of over 700 cassettes and never looked back.
Many of these songs were written years ago--some right after my conversion to Christ. These songs are very personal as they are somewhat of a diary of my early life as a Christian. Childlike expressions of faith are included in every song. Even "newer" songs like "Give It To Jesus" have a special meaning for me as they chronicle my walk with the Lord over a number of years.
Being a fan of the 80's style of rock, I soon found out about some great Christian bands like Bride, X-Sinner, Rez, Rose, Mad At The World, etc. I found that there really were other rockers out there who were making the kind of music I liked! I enveloped myself in this genre and still love this music today. These artists have been a huge influence on my music and hopefully you will hear it on the CD.
Missionary One has been a long time coming. I wanted to do this project for years, but the timing just was never right. Now that good old school 80's hard rock is in shortage, the time is here and Missionary One is ready to rock your socks off!
