It's not the most impressive packaging (inexplicably, the card that comes with the CD is way too small for the tray), but I bought the disc for the music, and there's an absurd amount of it here -- a whole box set crammed onto one CD. If you're reading this, you probably already know about Intro to My Mind, A Different Kid, etc.; weirdly, almost defiantly compelling, they're all included here. (Intro, thankfully, retains its original tracklist, complete with the gangsta sendoff "Stay Real," and the dark "Is there a God?") Of primary interest to me was the early, "production learning experience" (MM's words) stuff that had heretofore been out of print or had print runs of, like, five copies. Quite frankly, based on the album notes -- for example, Delve Deeper was "Recorded without multi-tracking" -- I wasn't expecting much. But the quality (by which I mean fidelity, or whatever) of the recordings is surprisingly high, and there are enough nuggets to make sorting through worthwhile and ultimately rewarding. Given the sheer amount of material here, it's a lengthy process; I got the album several weeks ago and I'm still digging, but that's half the fun, and maybe, on second thought, the point.
