Release: MISSION STREET PROJECT - Make Levees


In 2006 the first collection from Mission Street Project titled “Liberty Tree” was released. Peter Yarrow called the collection “important, very important.” Volume 2, “Make Levees,” features 18 songs performed by 18 different performers and touches on topics of social and political relevance.

All songs written or co-written by Erik Balkey with Kate Graves (track 2), Pat Wictor (tracks 3 and 11), Amy Speace (track 9), Tom Prasada-Rao (track 10), Jonathan Byrd (track 13 and 18) and Dave Potts (track 14). “Born in the U.S.A.” written by Bruce Springsteen.

Make levees

Well worth buying this album for two reasons - a) to hear some of Erik Balkey's new songs and b) to hear some artists I've never ever heard of sing some great songs. Some really good work here and one of the best American folk albums I've heard in a long time.
