Mixing roots reggae with a sort of cajun soul delivers some of the most captivating and infectious original music I’ve heard in a long while. There are elements in the vocalization that suggest similarities to Amy Winehouse and some classic soul, blues and jazz singers. However, Miss Mec’s approach feels totally organic, fresh and inspired. The music and rhythm feels fused into her DNA, and the lyrical content is down to earth and relevant.
