Soul Shouter Publicity is proud to present Miss Melanie & the Valley Rats' debut record entitled, "Slow Down."

One listen to this disc gives irrefutable proof that Melanie Morrison is for real. Her ability to bare her soul on slow blues like, "I'd Rather Go Blind," "Don't Tell Me," and "A Scorned Woman's Blues," as well as rocking hard on the title track, "Slow Down," and make toe-tapping shuffles like, "Ain't That Lovin' You," "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie," and "Just a Little Bit," really swing and are what makes this album truly righteous. Morrison is one smoking vocalist and the Valley Rats contribute to the thermodynamics without once getting in her way.

Guitarist, Mark Ross's from the gut and toneful stylings can be heard throughout. His "less is more" approach on "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "Don't Tell Me" display a profound maturity. Ross is also capable of turning up the heat when it's time to "Ain't That Lovin' You," "Slow Down," and "Choo Choo Ch'Boogie," offer undeniable proof.

Rev. James Harton's elegant keyboard work, shows throughout. His sensitivity on "I'd Rather Go Blind," and "Cold, Cold Heart," further demonstrates his extensive skills on how to play for the song. His accordion on the East Texas Dancehall stroll, "On Time," is a work of art. Rev rocks out with the best of them on uptempo cuts like "Slow Down" and "Just a Little Bit."

The Jack Wilkinson, John Kennedy rhythm section provide that fatback groove throughout. These guys know how to lay it down.
